Commissioned by Experimental Winter – Contemporary Music Concert, the performance piece Inhale/Exhale presents the dialogue among object, movement, the architectural space and the music, which brings about the silent encounter between Hsu and Finnish accordionist Timo Kinnunen. By placing a retired, 4.9-meter bamboo laundry pole (tiek-ko) from her childhood home across her shoulder, pacing through a single trajectory of entry, a central turn, and departure,Hsu deploys the mundane domestic object as a somatic extension to amplify the micro-rhythms of human breathing.  Watch more
