The Friday Talk is an installation archiving an ongoing practice initiated in March 2023, framing informal chatting as an active methodology of care and companionship. Driven by a commitment to relational persistence, the artist utilizes earphones and digital communication platforms (Line) as a sonic interface to establish a dedicated weekly channel of conversation with her elder—bypassing domestic entanglements and painful memories arising from her role in governance for care to cultivate a sanctuary for pure exchange.

Serving as an archive of strategic care and resistance, the work incorporates: textual fragments that unfold the background impetus for the action; a series of small-format mobile self-portraits capturing the artist’s bodily presence as a ritual initiating each weekly call; and the actual bluetooth earphones that mediated this continuous, invisible act of tactical labor.
